Reliable How To Get Out Of Debt Information
Does anyone here ever experience any problems with debt management plans?
My sister signed up for one of these and the company she hired that promised to take care of all her debt, she paid them on the 16th of July. However, one of her creditors gave her August bill already and they didn't recieve any payment yet. She now owe late charges & interest to this creditor for non payment. She called up this debt management plan company and they told her that the creditor was suppose to receive payment which they still didn't , So, what is going on? Should she pay the late interest charges to the creditor or continue on with this debt management program?

Here is the situation... I currently have a garnishment on my wages, my checking account was just drained from another collector and my mortgage is about to have a lien on it.I know I should have done something before it got this bad but it is now too late for that. What is the best course of action at this point?
Are credit card companies more willing to work with a Debt Management Plan company or the consumer?
I get the feeling from talking with Take Charge America a nonprofit debt management credit counseling company that my creditors will be more willing to work with them than they are with me. What I am asking from my creditors is realistic waiving of some fees, lower interest rates, etc. however they are not willing to cooperate. According to Take Charge America, they will be able to consolidate my payments into one and submit proposals to my credit card companies and lower my rates and get me out of debt in just over three years. Is this the case? Are credit card companies more willing to work with a Debt Management Plan program than they are with me? if so, why is that the case?
Would it be better to get into a debt management plan or settle when it goes to collections?
I have a credit card debt of about $9,600.00 with a major credit card provider. They are charging me 24.99 % interest. The minimum payment is around $300.00 and $200.00 of this is interest. What would be the best thing to do? Should I use a debt management program to pay it off or stop paying it all together and let it go to a collection agency where I could then settle with them and ask that when I settle that they remove the negative information from my credit report?

Is a debt management plan a bad idea?
I was thinking of entering a debt management plan to pay of some bills to leave myself with more cash at the end of the month, however I seem a little bit weary of this, is it a bad idea and has anyone ever entered one. I contacted a company called Chase Saunders who appear to be very keen to help me out with my debts, can anyone advise me whether this could be a bad idea to do this or whether its just best to work out my debt problems myself to keep a credit rating at least
