Seriously look into Dave Ramsey's debt snowball program. He hates debt collectors' scare tactics, and says to pay for (in this order) Food, Utilities (lights, water, etc), mortgage, and then the bills get the rest. Good luck!

If you're that much in debt, perhaps you should contact a bankruptcy attorney. It's nothing to be ashamed of.

I would highly consider bankruptcy. It is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. It was meant to help people that truly need it. Google "means test " and you can determine for free whether or not you qualify for chapter 7. You can reaffirm your house to keep it also. Life happens. Don't let it get to you. Take control of it. Don't be ashamed of bankruptcy. Look at it as a fresh start. They'll make you attend some finance classes, but they will give you good information to help you prepare for a better future. I'm sure all of these people who are talking about Dave Ramsey have never been in your position. People, when you have no money for food, you're hungry every night, and can't make it to work because you have no gas money, Dave Ramsey can't save you. I've been there. It's good to learn about Dave Ramsey's advice when you aren't already over your head in debt and to take his advice seriously after you have filed. He's rich cause you all buy his stuff!!! For real people who have been in that pit, bankruptcy is a life saver, to be taken seriously. There are some times when bills are out of your control. I'm sure I'll get a bunch of thumbs down from all you bankruptcy haters.

I would recommend you go to the library and get books by Dave Ramsey. I read them about a year ago and they have changed my financial life.. You need to cut down all your bills you possibly can and look at getting a better job or second job. It's not going to be easy but it can be done.. Use the debt snowball system and stay focused and you can do it. The main thing is to cut down all your bills possible and try to increase your income. Maybe if you have a extra room look at renting it out, you can go to roommates.com and find a roommate.. Best of luck
