If i want to lose weight, should i sleep less?

Question: If i want to lose weight, should i sleep less?

I'm still exhausted after 12 hours of sleep, but then I'm hearing that if you're sleep deprived, you will gain weight. What if this means I naturally need that much sleep. I'm obese, does that have anything to do with being this tired? If I sleep only 9 hours so that I can eat a healthy snack every 2 to 3 hours, will that help me lose weight? I know this may sound like a stupid question! Mysterion, that's a good point. I think I do have sleep apnea, because sometimes I've heard myself snore once and then wake up. Oh yeah and I have a benign puitary tumour from this medication I've stopped taking now with my doctor's permission. Chevy - yes, I totally understand that being obese is very unhealthy. That's why I'm trying to lose! I've joined a weight loss club and I am exercising more than I was, anyway. But you're right, I should step it up even more. And I did rejoin a gym!

Excersize is the best way to lose weight, or rather to get fit (cuz you will lose weight and it will be replaced by mussels).

Go talk to your doctor. Sleep problems (along with the obesity) can be a sign of metabolic/ chemical problems in your body. If these problems exist no amount of exercise or dieting or starvation will make you lose weight.

It's unhealthy to not get enough sleep, but it's also unhealthy to get too much sleep. 8 to 9 hours should be enough. Maybe you are not getting good REM sleep. Do you toss and turn at night, or possibly have sleep apnea? There may be some problem that is keeping you from getting real rest. The best thing is to have a schedule and get ready for bed and go to sleep at a certain time. When your alarm goes off get up the first time, start your day and follow the same schedule. Hopefully after a while it will seem normal to you. Having good sleep will also give you more energy for things like exercise.

You sleep a lot because you are overweight. As you slowly lose weight, you will find that your body will function better. Sleeping a little and only eating a snack will not help you lose weight. Find a doctor and have him put you on a weight loss program of rigorous diet and exercise.

Your sleep is one of the last things to be worrying about if your obese! But every person needs 6 to 8 hours of sleep for there mind and body to function properly. I'll be that mean gym teacher for you right now. What you need to do is stop whining about your sleep and eating healthy snacks & actually get up and do something about your health. Not just to lose weight but your HEALTH in general! obesity will be the death of you if you do not do something about it!!! Don't you understand that?? Get yourself a gym membership or a treadmill for home. You can find an old working tread mill at almost any thrift or used goods store. Lower yourself to 40 or less carbohydrates each day for 2 weeks or more. Then slowly build yourself back up with healthy carbs. WALK as much as you can each day on the tread mill & do curls with small weight bars!! You need to be active!!! STOP WHINING & do what you need to do to be healthy!! You will feel much better if you do this. I promise. Even if you don't see immediate results. Knowing in your mind that you are doing something to better yourself will bring up your self esteem & put a smile on your face more often then not. I was never obese but after high school I went from 135lb wrestler to 240lb slob. I am now 180 fit. It took hard work and dedication. A lot of mental strength to do this. But you can do it. Good Luck ((O_o))

Don't sleep as-soon as after ate anything. Exercise and diet will give more effectiveness in weight-lose. Atleast 6 hours sleep is must for a human per day. Also consult with a good doctor.
