Question: Are obese people aware of the strain they place on the environment?
(Posted by: soda pop on 2010-06-10 06:36:57)
A study was done on 100 normal and obese men and women, the obese people produced 3 times as much trash from food wrappers and such than the normal sized folks, and the obese also deffecated 2 times as much. should they be fined or imprisoned for their actions, im talking about the ones that can help it 95 percent. |

Should we jail all people who you think eat too much? There are skinny people with very high metabolisms that eat more than some obese people. Should be jail them too because they create too much garbage? |

Sometimes I wonder how people can be so ignorant. I am not obese so this is not because of that but did you ever think they can't help it? Did you ever think that the majority of these people were not properly taught, by their parents, how to eat properly? I see obese children in the supermarket all the time and they are usually following around their even more obese parents as they fill their carts with garbage. Well, when that kid grows up what are his/ har chances of being healthy? very small. And, once you get overweight from eating crap food it is hard to stop. It is addicting. Maybe you should read the book Ultrametabolism by Dr. Mark Hyman. You will learn exactly how the food becomes addicting and how the manufacturers of the food put some ingredients in the food to make it addicting. Instead of judging people why not try to educate them or support them. Maybe then things can change. Because if we start fining people or putting people in prison for such unimportant things than maybe someone will request you get put in jail for driving too much and polluting our air? Or, maybe they will fine you for watching too much TV and using too much energy. This question was so ignorant I wonder if it was even real. |

I think the problem lies not within the people, but with the food suppliers. If you were to walk into your local supermarket, you would find all the offers (buy 1 get 1 free, buy 1 get a second half price, reduced prices, general sales, etc etc) are only relavent to foods that are unhealthy, fatty, and usual packaged. The shops draw people into buying these things but its only the start! BUT!!!!!... There is no excuse for littering FULL STOP!! If you are to impatient to wait for a bin, then don't buy the food in the first place! I wont go on, but i think my thoughts are obvious on this part! Something to think about, joint blame maybe, not sole blame |

I think that ignorant idiots like you should be imprisoned for their actions. You want people to be punished for being unhealthy and think that will do anything to solve the problem. People need to be helped to become healthier. There should be education in place to actually teach people what they should be eating and about portion control. I really hope you're not so ignorant to think that "normal sized " people aren't producing just as much trash from food. What about all the people that are trying to become/ stay thin so they're eating all packaged low calorie/ fat/ carb foods. I'm sure that a person on a diet would be producing the same amount of food trash as an overweight/ obese person. You're suppose to have a bowel movement for every meal that you eat. That's normal. So you're blaming people who get enough fiber in their diet for regularly defecating. |

Ignorance should be fined, first offence. Second is imprisonment. :D |
