Question: How do i know how many calories to eat in a day for weight loss?

Age: 16 height: 5 foot 3.5 inches weight :180 lbs and once I lose say.. 10 lbs, I need to alter how many calories I eat again so how many calories would I need to eat a day for weight loss when I am: 170 lbs 160 lbs 150 lbs 140 lbs 130 lbs 120 lbs - maintaining weight

I use this, and it shows how many you should eat. shapefit.com/ dailycalorie-calc.html for you to be at 120, you should eat 2064 calories per day

Multiply the weight by 10 for each except the maintenance. For maintenance multiply by 12-14. these li'l forumlas will get you in the ball park. Nothing is perfect so all we can do is get in the area and make adjustments accordingly.

It really depends on how many calories you burn. You need to eat less than you burn. Diet.com has tools to help you track both. I lost a lot of weight just by keeping track of both.

You don't need to drop calories hun thats really not good for you what you need to do is vary the amount of calories that you take in every day. Its far more affective than eating the same amount every day cuz then your body just expects it. Switch it up a bit eat a high protein diet and exercise about 3-5 times a week. You don't need a fancy gym or a special diet plan, just get out side and have fun with it. Bike, run, swim, play any sport that you enjoy! Even get friends and family involved if you want!! just have some fun! Good luck!!!!!

Always consume at least 1200 calories. A good range is 1300-1500 calories a day. Use exercise to help create a calorie deficit of around 500 calories a day. It takes a deficit of 3500 calories to lose one pound. Eat small, healthy meals every 2-4 hours, about 5-6 meals a day. Each of these meals should have some protein in them and be around 300 calories each. This will help to build your metabolism. Focus on eating fruits and veggies, whole grains, low fat dairy products, nut, and lean meats, chicken and fish. Drink plenty of water. Do strength training to increase your metabolism as well.
